Don't let the b********* get you down!

Kimo and I traipsed about UMS campus this morning; looking for a certain lady whose role in my meal-tix is important :) So, we went this a-way and that-a-way before finally finding her; then up-and-down and round-and-round before completing whatever task was told me over the phone earlier. By the time the meager half-hour time slot for the task was over, Kimo and I had ventured five floors in total, two different buildings, 4 different rooms, and 10 times worth of buckling-and-unbuckling of said toddler. I couldn't blame Kimo when he said "Drink, drink, drink" when we finally mozied-on down off the campus. The line at McD's drive-thru was awfully long. Kimo inhaled the ice-cold Ribena and practically dozed-off while clutching on to a french fry. I attempted to decompress with deep breathing; not very successful, as it has been a long time since I was given a run-around like that.

Nevertheless... life is good, ain't it? The sun was shining and was not so blanking hot, when we were traipsing about earlier. McD's had Ribena, and that was good. Oh, and their fries were very crispy this time. So, when small things like that pan out, I yell 'Oh, joy' on top of my lungs :) For, we could have traipsed about in pouring rain; McD's could have run out Ribena and the fries limpy-ish.

Speaking of good things, just yesterday, Kimo and I had a nice thing happen to us. I was to meet with a friend at a small eatery but since Wendell was using my car, I totted Kimo out to the eatery which was just outside the compound where we live. This particular hour, it happened to drizzle so, but having steeled my mind against the notion that rain was pesky; I eagerly balanced Kimo on my hip as I pounded the pavement. Just as we got to the last bend on the journey (it was a 10-15 minute walk), a young local chap with blond highlights stopped his vehicle and asked in Mandarin whether he could give us a lift to wherever it was that we needed to go. Understanding Mandarin to a point, I answered back in Malay, and said that it was so sweet of him to do so, and yes, we'll take a ride with him. His 1 minute ride to the eatery was much appreciated. Young hip boy said, "Here's my card. If you have time, hey, let's have coffee". I said 'sure thing' and Kimo waved goodbye. Again, another 'good' thing to have happened in my seemingly turbulent week. Yes! You can still trust your fellow-men :)

Why is it that when we find ourselves at the lowest rung of trust and good faith that we suddenly get thrust into or blown-in/by a stroke of good experience like the above? When all things pointing at you tell you that you'll not be so lucky this time; when your meritorious self is crushed by a giant black boot of favoritism; when help being offered is offered on condition that the so-called helper gets first dibs at knocking your ego about just so you know the hand that feeds? Men, women, folks, compadres - You're okay; you're alright; so don't let them get you down :) Keep at it, your dream, your thing that makes you believe that you are doing the right thing. Let's listen to our gut instincts for awhile and then forever.

Again, I am mulling over something, folks. But I can't, at this point, make you privy to it just yet. Rest assured, you'll know in good time what it is exactly that I am up to. And no, it has nothing to do with tricks! Trixie is out of tricks from her trick-bag, this time. I am going on empty, save for my gut feeling, that thing we call 'instinct', which saves my butt, each and every time...
